Describe where the wear is
Tell the fitter whether the wear appears on the inner edge, outer edge, centre or in irregular patches. Identify the wheel and whether more than one tyre is affected. Share existing measurements if you have them, without assuming an average depth describes the most worn area.
Photographs are useful only when they can be taken safely. Do not crawl under the vehicle or stand in traffic to expose a hidden inner edge for the booking.
Look at the tyre and the vehicle together
Incorrect pressure, alignment and mechanical faults can contribute to abnormal wear. The appearance alone cannot reliably establish which factor is involved. Describe steering pull, vibration or a recent impact as well as the tread pattern, and let a qualified professional determine the appropriate checks.
Mention recent suspension work, changes to wheels or modifications. This history helps avoid treating the tyre as an isolated item when the vehicle's setup may also need assessment.
Replacement does not correct every underlying issue
A new tyre may be needed because the current one is unsuitable, but fitting it does not automatically correct alignment or repair worn components. Ask whether additional checks are necessary to protect the replacement from similar wear.
Wheel balancing and wheel alignment are different services. A quote for fitting and balancing should not be read as a promise that alignment work is included. Confirm what the mobile visit covers and whether a workshop referral is appropriate.
Prepare a useful mobile enquiry
Provide the full specification, affected wheel positions, photographs and any vehicle symptoms. Explain whether the car is safely parked and where access is available. The team can assess a tyre replacement request and discuss the limits of the visit before confirming arrangements, rather than promising that replacing one tyre will resolve the whole problem.
If cords are visible, a tyre is flat or the vehicle feels unsafe, stop the journey safely and request help instead of waiting for a routine appointment.
Before you book
- Identify the wheel and the part of the tread affected.
- Mention vibration, steering pull or a recent impact.
- Disclose suspension work, wheel changes or modifications.
- Ask which further checks are separate from tyre fitting.
Your tyres, taken care of.
Choose a visit that fits your day. Share your vehicle and location, and we’ll confirm the right tyre, appointment and full quote.
Your questions, answered.
Does inner-edge wear prove the alignment is wrong?
It may be relevant, but the pattern alone is not a confirmed diagnosis. The tyre and vehicle need an appropriate professional assessment.
Will a mobile tyre replacement include wheel alignment?
Do not assume that it does. Explain the uneven wear when booking and ask what can be assessed during the visit and what may require a separate service.
