Tyre trouble at the Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls stop

A flat tyre at a popular viewing stop needs an accurate parking description, not a map pin on the waterfall or cliff. If your car is at Kilt Rock, share its exact position and explain whether the affected wheel has room beside it. The team assesses the site and vehicle before confirming a mobile visit.

Send a parking destination rather than a cliff location

Highland Council lists Staffin Kilt Rock parking on the A855. That identifies the visitor parking site, while the car’s own pin and bay description identify your vehicle. Say whether the car is inside that parking area or actually stopped elsewhere along the approach. A scenic photograph of Mealt Falls does not establish a route to the wheel needing attention.

Add your registration and colour, then identify a fixed feature such as the entrance or a parking notice. If you have continued to another stop, update the location before requesting attendance. Kilt Rock, Lealt and Staffin may appear together on a touring itinerary, but they are separate vehicle destinations and must not share an approximate meeting pin.

Keep parking and fitting permission separate

Read the current signs and ask the operator how an immobilised vehicle should be handled. Parking conditions can change, so use the current notices rather than saved travel-blog details. Paying for a stay does not reserve adjacent space for fitting equipment or authorise a maintenance visit in any particular bay. Share the operator instructions with the booking team.

Describe the surface, slope and space alongside the affected wheel from a safe position. If the car is exposed to traffic, say so straight away. Do not drive a flat tyre towards the A855 verge or another unassessed spot to create room. If the current location cannot support the work, the next step needs discussion before any visit is accepted.

Build a complete enquiry while your group waits

Nominate an authorised person with the key who can remain reachable at the vehicle. Send complete tyre markings, quantity and the damaged wheel position, along with any impact or driving after pressure loss. Hire-car visitors need the rental provider approval instructions. A campervan may require additional weight, load and equipment details before suitable tyre options can be confirmed.

Explain an onward ferry, checkout or activity booking as a constraint, rather than assuming the viewing stop guarantees rapid attendance. The team checks current availability, tyre requirements and an appropriate working position. A confirmed replacement quotation includes the selected tyre supply and mobile fitting; a repair remains subject to assessment of the actual damage and conditions at the vehicle.

A LITTLE PREPARATION

Before you book

  • State Kilt Rock parking or another actual road stop.
  • Mark the car rather than Mealt Falls.
  • Check current operator instructions.
  • Describe room beside the affected wheel.
  • Send the tyre specification and key details.

GOOD TO KNOW

Your questions, answered.

Are Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls separate fitting locations?

Use the position of your parked vehicle. The attraction names describe the visit, while a car pin and parking entrance identify where a fitter could reach you.

Can I park on the road to make a fitting easier?

Do not relocate on a flat tyre or assume roadside space is permitted or suitable. Describe the current position and follow local signs and operator instructions.
