Use the forest parking approach rather than the hide pin
Forestry and Land Scotland describes its Kylerhea parking reached by a track before the village. Its Marine Mammal Trail continues to a viewing hide. State that your car is at the wildlife parking and identify the entrance, rather than marking the hide as the fitting destination.
Add the registration, affected wheel and a visible fixed feature near the bay. If you actually parked elsewhere, explain that difference. A map result for Kylerhea can cover more than the route used by visitors to the wildlife site, so the specific parking position matters.
Confirm the island side and actual road access
Say that the vehicle is on Skye, or state explicitly if it is across the water on the mainland. The seasonal ferry mentioned in the forest visitor information is a separate crossing arrangement. Its presence on an itinerary does not establish that a fitter will use it.
Describe restrictions on the last approach and space for a van beside the car. Ask the site operator about the proposed maintenance and pass on its guidance. Parking availability or a trail facility does not automatically confirm permission and a workable surface for wheel equipment.
Prepare tyre information without another excursion
Photograph the full sidewall specification and say what you noticed on returning. Mention any warning seen before walking, prior sealant use or driving on the flat. Find the locking wheel nut key and record the quantity needed instead of assuming all the tyres match.
For a hired vehicle, contact the rental provider through its process and explain the approval status. Agree who can authorise the proposed tyre and remain at the car. Do not leave for another wildlife walk assuming an enquiry means unattended work has been arranged.
Confirm the appointment separately from onward travel
Tell us about checkout or a crossing planned for later, then review the offered appointment and complete fitted price. The working position, tyre suitability and current availability determine what can be agreed. The closeness of Glenelg across the water cannot supply an arrival estimate.
If the car cannot be attended where it is parked, explain why before confirming. Avoid driving a damaged tyre down the approach to make the location simpler. A mobile tyre enquiry does not itself provide towing, trail assistance or passenger transport while other plans are rearranged.
Before you book
- State wildlife car park and the actual entrance.
- Confirm Kylerhea on Skye or the mainland side.
- Check operator permission and room beside the wheel.
- Prepare tyre markings, locking key and approval.
Your tyres, taken care of.
Tell us where you’ve safely stopped and what your vehicle needs. We’ll check availability and confirm your quote and arrival estimate.
Your questions, answered.
Can I request fitting using the otter hide location?
Use the parked car and its road entrance instead. The viewing hide is reached by the trail and is not the vehicle meeting point for a tyre visit.
Does the ferry determine the fitter route?
No. The actual route and current crossing arrangements need their own assessment. Explain the car side of the water and do not infer attendance from a map shortcut.
