Kylerhea visitor tyre help with the correct Skye-side route
Kylerhea is a place where a short distance on a holiday map can hide a different road journey. When a tyre problem affects your visit, state that the car is on Skye and give its exact position. Ferry plans, wildlife walks and a stopped car each need their own location details.

Separate the ferry landing from the wildlife visit
Forestry and Land Scotland identifies a separate parking approach for its Kylerhea wildlife destination. A pin at the viewing hide is not the same as the parked vehicle, and the ferry landing is another location again. Describe which place you used and include the entrance a service van would actually need.
If the car is across the water at Glenelg, say that explicitly. Do not use a Kylerhea location merely because your itinerary expected to arrive there. The actual side and available road route must be assessed before an arrival estimate is useful. A ferry line on a map cannot establish a crossing for a fitter.
Make your return from a walk or crossing clear
If you discover the flat after the wildlife walk, remain focused on the car and arrange a reachable contact there. Do not assume that a fitter will meet you at the hide or on the trail. Explain if the vehicle is at accommodation instead, including the host name, entrance and any restriction on using the parking space.
Check current ferry arrangements with the operator if the rest of your holiday depends on that crossing. Give the intended departure as a constraint, not as a promised completion time. The appointment needs current availability, a suitable tyre and a workable site. Parking permission alone does not automatically permit wheel work or occupation of adjacent space.
Prepare one complete request before changing your itinerary
Record the relevant tyre size and remaining specification, affected wheel, quantity and registration. Tell us if the tyre was driven while flat or if sealant has already been used. Locate the locking wheel nut key. A hired car also needs the rental provider approval process followed before a tyre or service is accepted.
Choose urgent help for assessment of the present problem or request a planned window if the car can remain at a permitted property. Review the complete fitted quotation and agreed meeting details. If the stopping place cannot support tyre equipment, explain that before confirming. Mobile fitting does not itself provide recovery from the approach road or transport for passengers.
Good to know
Before you arrange your visit.
Can I use a pin at the Kylerhea otter hide?
Use the parked car and its road entrance. The viewing hide is reached by a trail, so its landmark pin does not provide a vehicle fitting destination.
Will a fitter use the Kylerhea ferry?
The route must be assessed from actual availability and crossing information. Do not assume ferry use or a particular arrival time from the straight-line distance across the water.
