A campsite permission and pitch-clearance checklist for tyre work on Skye

Before requesting a tyre visit at a campsite, prepare a short worksheet with reception and the person responsible for the vehicle. Record who can approve the proposed maintenance, how a service van would reach the pitch and what surrounds the affected wheel. These details help the fitting team assess the site rather than assume that a pitch booking establishes a workable location.

Identify who can approve a visiting contractor

Ask reception who controls maintenance permission for the particular pitch or parking area. Explain that a tyre fitter and service van may need access, then record the instruction and an agreed contact. Someone answering general campsite questions may need to refer the request to the manager or landowner.

Keep permission for work separate from permission for the vehicle to remain after the pitch booking ends. Ask about contractor access times, barriers and any operator restriction on the proposed position. If the vehicle is outside the managed campsite, describe that honestly instead of using reception as though it controls the actual ground.

Write the route from the entrance to the pitch

Record the campsite address, the entrance used by vehicles and the pitch or section name. Check that the car pin identifies the affected vehicle. Add the operator directions for a barrier, gate or arrival contact; a public map marker at reception can leave an important part of the journey unexplained.

Ask about restrictions on the internal route and describe any narrow turn or shared access you observed. Include published vehicle dimensions if available, without inventing a minimum turning space for the fitter. A route suitable for your holiday vehicle is useful context, but the service van and equipment still need their own assessment.

Record the pitch and clearance around the wheel

Describe whether the vehicle stands on grass, gravel or hardstanding, and note slope, softness or standing water. Add a photograph of the parked vehicle and affected side where accessible. Record what is present rather than declaring the ground suitable: the fitting team must decide how those conditions affect the proposed equipment and work.

List ramps, an extended awning, stored bikes, a trailer or neighbouring equipment that limits access. Mention the available space beside the wheel and any walkway that must remain open. Ask what preparation is wanted before altering the layout; do not move a flat tyre or dismantle the campsite setup to create an assumed fitting bay.

Finish the worksheet with people and vehicle access

Name the person who holds the vehicle keys, can find the locking wheel nut key and can meet the fitter. For a hired camper, obtain rental-company instructions separately from campsite consent. Share tyre markings, registration and wheel position alongside the site worksheet so access information remains attached to the correct vehicle.

Read back the consent, route, pitch conditions and permitted stay with the relevant contacts. Use the linked campsite service page to request the visit and review the accepted location and complete quote. A confirmed replacement quote includes the selected tyre supply and agreed mobile fitting. Update the worksheet if the operator changes the pitch or access instructions.

A LITTLE PREPARATION

Before you book

  • Identify the person granting maintenance permission.
  • Record contractor access and permitted parking time.
  • Describe the entrance-to-pitch route and actual car pin.
  • Note ground, slope and clearance at the affected wheel.
  • List ramps, awnings and other access obstructions.
  • Name the keyholder and vehicle-work approval contact.

GOOD TO KNOW

Your questions, answered.

Is reception approval the same as permission for any pitch?

Ask who controls the actual pitch or parking space and explain the proposed work. Reception may need another person to confirm it. Record the instruction for that location rather than assuming a general campsite answer covers every area.

Should I provide a minimum clearance measurement?

Describe the actual space and any reliable dimensions you have, including obstacles. Do not invent an equipment clearance standard or assume a measured gap proves suitability. The fitter assesses the proposed vehicle and work area.

Does a completed worksheet reserve a tyre appointment?

The worksheet prepares the site information. Request attendance through the campsite service page and confirm the proposed tyre, location, complete quote and appointment with the team.
