Planning a tyre appointment around a Skye ferry journey

A ferry departure gives a tyre appointment a firm deadline, but fitting and ferry check-in are separate arrangements. Tell the team where the vehicle is, the crossing you intend to take and your operator’s check-in requirement. An appointment cannot guarantee a sailing connection.

Give the check-in deadline, not just departure

Your booking confirmation and ferry operator’s current route information are the right places to check travel requirements. Share the required vehicle check-in time when discussing a fitting. It gives a more useful deadline than the sailing time alone.

Allow for the journey from the fitting location to the terminal, as well as time for inspection and any work. Ask about available appointments before assuming a tyre visit will fit into the final hour of your stay.

Be precise about the island and terminal

For Armadale, say whether you are at accommodation, on the approach or already at the terminal. For a Sconser enquiry, state whether the vehicle is on Skye or on Raasay. A booking near a ferry port does not automatically include travel on a ferry to another island.

Do not assume a queue is a work site

If you are already checked in, speak to terminal staff about your vehicle position and explain the situation to dispatch. Restricted areas, moving queues and access rules can affect whether attendance is possible. Any proposed work needs a suitable, permitted place.

When the car is at accommodation, a planned appointment there may be easier to arrange. Confirm permission for the parking space and keep the vehicle available throughout the agreed visit.

Keep travel changes separate from the fitting request

If your sailing becomes uncertain, contact the ferry operator about your ticket and tell us promptly about any appointment change. We can discuss tyre arrangements, but cannot change ferry bookings or promise compensation for missed travel. A clear plan helps both teams understand the deadline.

A LITTLE PREPARATION

Before you book

  • Check the operator’s current route information.
  • Share your vehicle check-in deadline.
  • State the island and exact vehicle position.
  • Confirm permission for any terminal work.
YOUR NEXT STEP

Your tyres, taken care of.

Choose a visit that fits your day. Share your vehicle and location, and we’ll confirm the right tyre, appointment and full quote.

GOOD TO KNOW

Your questions, answered.

Can you guarantee that I will catch the ferry?

No. Tell the team your deadline so available options can be discussed, but attendance and fitting cannot guarantee check-in or boarding.

Does a Sconser appointment cover a car on Raasay?

No. State clearly that the vehicle is on Raasay so travel and suitability can be assessed separately before any arrangement is accepted.
