Describe the wheel concern separately from the flat
Tell the booking team whether the problem followed a pothole, kerb strike or another impact. Mention visible cracking, a distorted edge, unusual vibration or continuing air loss without trying to name the fault. Share a photograph only from a safe position. A photo helps communicate the enquiry, but it cannot confirm the condition of the entire wheel assembly.
Explain whether anybody has already inspected the wheel or attempted a repair, and pass on their findings if you have them. Keep those findings separate from your own observations. If the vehicle has a spare fitted, tell the team where the damaged wheel is and whether it is available for inspection. The parts needed for the job should be present at the agreed location.
Establish what the mobile visit can assess
Michelin includes checking the wheel rim as part of the professional tyre fitting process. That matters because a suitable new tyre still needs an appropriate wheel on which to be fitted. Ask the team whether your description calls for a tyre assessment, a separate wheel specialist or another arrangement. Do not assume that wheel straightening or structural repair is part of a mobile tyre booking.
If wheel damage is discovered during the visit, ask for the finding and proposed next step to be explained before approving additional work. There may be a need to obtain another wheel or arrange a different service. Tyre availability and wheel suitability are separate questions; confirming one does not automatically answer the other or guarantee the vehicle can resume its journey that day.
Keep the replacement plan tied to the findings
Provide the tyre size, registration and affected wheel position so the team can discuss a suitable tyre while the wheel concern is assessed. If you have already sourced a replacement wheel, disclose that before the appointment, together with its specification and the vehicle it is intended for. Compatibility needs checking; appearance or diameter alone should not settle the decision.
Use our tyre replacement service to enquire about the tyre work, and make the suspected wheel damage clear in your request. Agree the quoted tyre and fitting only when the proposed plan is understood. If another specialist needs to be involved, confirm who will arrange that work and where the vehicle or wheel will remain while the next step is organised.
Before you book
- Describe the impact and visible wheel concern.
- Send any existing inspection findings.
- Say where the damaged wheel is currently located.
- Confirm the tyre work and any separate specialist arrangement.
Your tyres, taken care of.
Tell us where you’ve safely stopped and what your vehicle needs. We’ll check availability and confirm your quote and arrival estimate.
Your questions, answered.
Will a new tyre fix a damaged alloy wheel?
A new tyre should not be assumed to fix a damaged wheel. The wheel condition needs assessment and may require a separate specialist or replacement.
Can I book before I know whether the wheel is damaged?
You can enquire, but tell the team about your concern before confirming the visit. They can discuss what needs assessing and what the mobile tyre service can arrange.
