Start with the hire company and exact model
Use the assistance instructions in the rental agreement and explain the tyre problem. Ask who may approve the work, what specification is required and what evidence must be kept. Electric vehicle rental terms are not identical, so do not assume that a local replacement will be authorised or reimbursed.
Send the registration, make, model and relevant vehicle documentation. Tell the team where the key card, fob or other access device is and who can authorise its use. A person who can unlock the car is not necessarily entitled to approve work for the rental company.
Photograph the tyre rather than relying on the model name
Send the complete sidewall marking and identify the affected wheel. Front and rear specifications can differ, so use the actual wheel information rather than a size remembered from another car. Mention any run-flat, acoustic or manufacturer-specific information shown in the documents without assuming that every available tyre is an approved substitute.
The manufacturer’s handbook is the place for model-specific lifting and tyre instructions. Tesla’s manuals, for example, provide separate tyre-care and vehicle-lifting guidance. That illustrates why the fitter must establish the particular vehicle requirements; it is not a promise that every EV or lifting arrangement can be accepted.
Explain whether the vehicle occupies a charging bay
If the car is at a charger, give the site name, bay and actual vehicle pin. Tell dispatch whether it is connected and explain any cable, surrounding traffic or space constraint. Ask the site operator about service access, fitting permission and the immobilised vehicle rather than treating a charging bay as an automatic work area.
Charging and parking conditions remain with the relevant operator. Do not assume that a tyre booking pauses fees, extends a stay or authorises moving equipment. Share any instructions with the team before attendance is agreed, and follow the vehicle and charger instructions for handling a connected car.
Keep tyre attendance separate from battery assistance
Explain the tyre problem and any additional warning separately. A mobile tyre enquiry does not include charging, high-voltage repair or vehicle recovery. Discuss equipment suitability, replacement availability, the complete price and the actual attendance estimate, then confirm the contact who will remain with the authorised vehicle access device.
Before you book
- Obtain the electric hire-car provider’s instructions.
- Send exact model and affected tyre markings.
- Describe charging connection and working clearance.
- Check site permission and arrange authorised vehicle access.

Tell us where you’ve safely stopped and what your vehicle needs. We’ll check availability and confirm your quote and arrival estimate.
Your questions, answered.
Can any tyre of the same size go on an electric hire car?
Size alone is insufficient. The required ratings, vehicle specification and rental-company instructions must be checked before a replacement is agreed. Do not approve a substitute solely because its diameter matches.
Does booking tyre help also provide charging or EV recovery?
No additional service is assumed. Explain any battery or mobility issue separately so the correct requirements can be identified. This enquiry concerns tyre work that must first be accepted for the vehicle and location.
