A tyre problem at the Fairy Pools car park in Glen Brittle

A flat tyre after visiting the Fairy Pools is a problem at your parked vehicle, not at the pools on the walking route. The first useful step is to identify where the car stands and speak to the parking operator about the situation. Then send the tyre details and location together so a suitable next step can be considered.

Name the right attraction and the right side of the road

The Fairy Pools are in the Glen Brittle area; they are a different destination from the Fairy Glen near Uig. The local visitor guide places the parking entrance opposite the start of the Fairy Pools walk. A search marker on a waterfall or a path is therefore not the location of the parked car.

Check the selected address and move the pin to your vehicle before submitting the request. Say whether you are inside the managed car park or stopped somewhere on the approach, and include the registration and colour. If your phone is with another member of the group on the walk, explain that its live position does not identify the car.

Ask the parking operator before agreeing attendance

The Outdoor Access Trust for Scotland operates the Fairy Pools car park and publishes its visitor parking information. Minginish Community Hall's contact page also directs car park operational enquiries to that organisation. Tell the operator that the vehicle has a tyre problem and ask about permission and access for any proposed fitting work.

The operator describes a one-way parking system. Tell the booking team about the actual entrance, where your bay is within the site and any instructions you receive. Work cannot assume unrestricted access or use the circulation lane as a fitting bay. Parking arrangements and the tyre appointment need agreement from the appropriate people separately.

Explain the tyre and the vehicle without shortening the specification

Photograph the full sidewall marking where it is safely accessible and identify the affected wheel. Explain whether the tyre was already losing pressure on the approach or appeared flat only when you returned. Find the locking wheel nut key and tell us if it is missing, since that can affect what work is possible.

For a hired car, check the rental company's assistance instructions before approving work. If you are in a campervan, provide weight, dimensions and wheel details as well. A car park that accepts some larger vehicles does not establish that every motorhome can be attended or that the fitter has suitable equipment for your particular vehicle.

Keep the person meeting the fitter reachable

Agree who will be at the vehicle, hold the keys and authorise the quotation. It may be tempting for the whole group to return to the pools while arrangements are discussed, but an enquiry does not confirm unattended work. Explain any unreliable mobile connection and establish that the request has actually reached the team before relying on attendance.

Repair suitability, replacement tyre supply, site access and the complete proposed cost must be confirmed for the job. Any arrival estimate relates to the car park or approach location supplied, not the walking destination. This is a mobile tyre enquiry, not vehicle recovery or a service on the trail; say explicitly if the vehicle cannot be worked on where it stands.

A LITTLE PREPARATION

Before you book

  • Check Fairy Pools in Glen Brittle, not Fairy Glen.
  • Pin the actual car or stopped vehicle.
  • Ask the parking operator about work and access.
  • Prepare the full tyre specification and locking key.
  • Keep an authorised contact available at the car.
YOUR NEXT STEP

Your tyres, taken care of.

Tell us where you’ve safely stopped and what your vehicle needs. We’ll check availability and confirm your quote and arrival estimate.

GOOD TO KNOW

Your questions, answered.

Can I book tyre help from the Fairy Pools walking path?

You can send an enquiry, but it must identify the road-accessible vehicle location and a person able to meet the fitter there. The appointment does not provide tyre service on the path or beside the pools.

Who should I ask about tyre work in the Fairy Pools car park?

Ask the parking operator, the Outdoor Access Trust for Scotland, using current site notices or its official information. Share any conditions with the booking team; parking permission alone is not confirmation of a suitable fitting location.

Can the car remain in its bay until tyre help arrives?

Discuss the immobilised vehicle with the operator and tell the booking team what is agreed. The operator controls parking arrangements, while the fitter must assess the space and job. Do not assume a request extends your parking permission.
