Can my registration number confirm my tyre size?

Entering a number plate is an easy way to begin a tyre enquiry. It can identify the vehicle, but it is only part of the information needed. The size and specification actually fitted still need to be checked before supply is agreed.

What the vehicle lookup tells you

Our registration lookup uses DVLA vehicle enquiry information. It can help identify details such as the make, colour and year of manufacture. The published DVLA response specification does not provide a tyre-size field, so a successful vehicle result should not be read as confirmation of the tyre to order.

Check that the displayed vehicle looks right before continuing. If the lookup is unavailable or returns an unexpected result, explain this to the team and provide the registration and tyre details separately. A temporary lookup problem does not mean you should choose a guessed size to get past the form.

Why the fitted tyre still matters

Manufacturer tyre information and the markings on the current tyre help establish what needs checking. Michelin directs drivers to sidewall markings, vehicle labels and the owner’s manual for size and specification information. Tell the team about a wheel change or modification rather than assuming a general vehicle description settles the choice.

Record the complete marking for the wheel involved, including load and speed details that follow the main size. If the front and rear markings differ, make that clear. The aim is to let the team assess the actual request, not to force every vehicle with a similar name into one tyre selection.

Finish the enquiry without guessing

You can start our booking with a registration or a tyre size. If the size is unknown, leave it blank and add a note that you need help confirming it. A clear photo of the sidewall is often the most practical next piece of information to share with the team.

Before a replacement is agreed, confirm the tyre required, the quantity and the full quote. A vehicle found by registration does not reserve tyre stock or establish that a particular brand is available. Keep your booking reference so any photo or clarification can be connected to the right appointment.

A LITTLE PREPARATION

Before you book

  • Check the vehicle result matches your car.
  • Read the tyre marking on the affected wheel.
  • Mention modifications or differing wheel sizes.
  • Confirm the specification before agreeing supply.

GOOD TO KNOW

Your questions, answered.

Does Find vehicle automatically choose my tyre?

No. It helps identify the vehicle. Our form keeps tyre size separate because the tyre fitted still needs to be confirmed.

Can I book without a successful registration lookup?

Yes. You can provide the tyre size and other booking details manually. Tell the team if you still need help identifying the correct specification.
